It’s fast and portable, so it’s ready where and when you need it.
The sampling baton is optimized to collect from the surfaces you care about—hands, vehicles, packages, and baggage.
Our proprietary visual detection method eliminates complex electronics—so the XPAK® is rugged even under tough field conditions.
Ready at the flip of a switch—no warm-up or calibration required.
Instant, intuitive results with one easy step.
XPAK® Applications
Routine entrance screening - Quickly sample large numbers of people at entrances to bases, embassies, buildings, power plants, airports, stadiums, events, and facilities.
Spot screening - Randomly screen people and/or their belongings when routine entrance screening is impractical or unnecessary.
Vehicle screening - Screen vehicles at checkpoints or delivery entrances.
Screening large numbers of hand-carried items - Screen luggage, briefcases, bags, and other hand-carried items at airports, bus terminals, and other arrival and departure points.
Screening mailed and shipped items - Screen letters, packages, and shipping crates arriving at embassies, mailrooms, government facilities, or large shipping facilities.
Threat-based screening - Screen small numbers of people, vehicles, unattended packages, or mailed/shipped items in response to a threat.
Information gathering - Gather information about bomb-making activities.
The XPAK-i
The XPAK-i system allows operators to collect and analyze trace explosives data over a wide target area, record samples with barcode and GPS data, preserve samples for further forensics, and using RedX’s proprietary XPAK SPOTLIGHT Software, download data and map it to quickly identify patterns of activity or ‘hot’ zones.

Fighting IED's at their source
The image below shows the results of sample field operations.
Red dots indicate the presence of trace explosives, green dots indicate the absence of trace explosives. As can be clearly observed, there is a grouping of detections in an area adjacent to the bomb making facility.
The XPAK-i is a key element in intelligence and information gathering activities necessary to detect and disrupt terrorist networks.
XPAK-i combines the XPAK portable trace explosives detection system with the i-MODULE geolocation, referencing, and data logging tool and XPAK Spotlight Software for the visualization and analysis of this data. The entire system provides the most streamlined system available today in support of nodal analysis that targets terrorist networks and facilities. The XPAK was launched in 2007 and currently is in use by foreign and U.S Military, civilian, and private sector customers. The first XPAK-i systems have been deployed by the Combat Support Directorate of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of operations in theater.
